Welcome to the 28th Annual Emmys, and HuffPost's Emmy Liveblog! The Sopranos! Ugly Betty! 30 Rock! The Office! Special bonus: More Ryan Seacrest than you could ever hope to see! That goes double for Joely Fisher.
Colbert's studio audience clapped to Keith's song, blithely unaware that they were swaying to a racially tinged, explicitly pro-lynching anthem that calls for the vigilante-style hanging of car thieves.
What most forget is that Colbert pointed daggers at the press as well as the president -- and many in the media responded by panning his performance in the days that followed.
While consumers of most news outlets scored poorly on the test, a separate question revealed that a vast majority believe they follow national news closely.
A Clinton-Obama vs. McCain-Thune race would be a fun one to watch and might provide the unusual spectacle of having the v.p. debates draw higher ratings than those of the candidates for president.
I've had a bunch of mail on my recent columns pertaining to the return of Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert to the airwaves. They tend to fall into one...
What's Colbert's larger point, or what's the point that cannot be accomplished by remaining on the satirical sidelines?
Appearing on The Colbert Report as an author can be a double-edged sword, because while it's high-profile, you are also a punching bag in his bombastic red-blooded American act.
Last week a mix of water and sanitation experts gathered for World Water Week in Stockholm, Sweden to mull over the world's biggest public health crisis. The problem is that not enough people paid attention.

Browne is a long-time opponent of atomic energy and an organizer of Musicians United for Safe Energy (MUSE).
In tomorrow's New York Times piece on him, Stewart says he looks forward to end of the Bush administration "as a comedian, as a person, as a citizen, as a mammal."

Sorry...I never did buy the "Bush Idiot Speak"...I believe this was another genius plan by Carl Rove..to pander to the "right"...and anyone else that likes a "good ole boy" that drives a pick up around a scrub brush ranch and chops wood... that you can drink a beer with.
Those that do believe these errors in speech have been "had"...just like they were had when Bush said "Jesus is my hero". This is madison avenue brilliance, on how to sell one of the most corrupt sociopathic minds every to enter the Oval Office. Nixon is a boy scout compared to Bush. "duh, errr, uhhh...fool me once..uhhh..errr..." You believe this "dumb cowboy" speak?? I got a bridge in brooklyn you may want to buy.
Let me get this straight. You are saying Bush/Rove are deceiving us with the idea that Bush is an idiot when actually he is a genius and we're all idiots for believing he's an idiot because they know that only idiots would respect another idiot, not a genius.
That Right?
Very clever.
LMAO!
Can we just get footage of Palin and Bush talking to each other? Then maybe they both will go blithering into the sunset.
