It is thinking like this that will doom this new presidency. I really wish people would ease up on the guy and let him and his team get things figured out. We voted for him now we need to get out of the way.

So Obama is going to "democratize" Cuba? You mean turn it over to the Miami gangsters?
Obama is going to democratize Venezuela? Even though Chavez has been re-elected twice with huge margins in open elections?
Obama's going to democratize Iran - even though they had 8 "approved" candidates versus our 2?
Obama is hopefully more than a marketing gimmick for the US Empire, but I'm not optimistic.
I don't understand why people think that the US needs to spread Democracy. Yeah, we think it is the best form of government, but that doesn't mean everyone does. Are we so arrogant that we presume to know what is best for the entire planet?

Were you as upset with Saddam's torture (cutting out tongues and worse) was OK and Gitmo was not OK?
I don't think "the world" needs lectures regarding human rights, democracy, or economics from the USA.
Real change means cutting back on the 700 military installations in 130 countries and using that money for the benefit of the USA.
I think lots of folks expect Obama to play the same game as our past recent presidents, and are just hoping that he plays it better. Another possibility is that Barak could do some outside the box type of thinking. Something new. Something completely different. What forms could that take?
Perhaps something like using and empowering the United Nations to actually gaining global cooperation in addressing huge problems like climate change, and allocation of the world's natural resources. Our commons is being polluted not just by ourselves, but other nations, especially China. We act like the solution to our energy problems, both type and amount, is a U.S. matter.
Obama has talked about regaining the respect of the world. Perhaps that will translate in leading the world, and t
